The Construction Industry Panel was convened on Nov. 18, 2008 by the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED), Front Range Workforce Funding Collaborative (FRWFC), and the Alliance for Construction Career Development (ACCD). The report details findings from Denver-area construction professionals who recommended six top strategies for addressing current and future workforce challenges, and detailed suggestions for how to move to action on each of these priority strategies:
-
Experiential events for youth
-
Construction career website
-
Construction and trades programming in middle and high schools
-
Pre-construction programs for adults
-
Streamline workforce agency job posting and recruitment processes
-
Marketing that highlights career pathways
You can also watch the Denver8 recording of the Construction Industry Panel.
This event was convened by three organizations leveraging efforts to support the construction industry and prepare citizens for careers in this high-growth sector. In Spring 2009, the panel will review whether these priority strategies are being successfully implemented and to refine a permanent, streamlined approach for real-time industry consultation on regional workforce preparation.
We are interested in your feedback, particularly your intentions or current efforts to implement any aspect of the recommended strategies. Please email Paula Gomez Farrell, Director of Workforce Development for OED, with any comments or questions.
