2008 Denver Youth Employment Program

The Youth Employment Program provides employment and training services that assist in addressing the educational, job readiness and career exploration goals of youth. There are three primary objectives for the Youth Employment Program:

  • Provide job readiness training to all participants and give youth the opportunity to gain basic work place skills.
  • Explore employment options in a particular field of interest.
  • Create employment options for youth that may not have otherwise been possible.

Who Can Participate?
The Youth Employment Program serves youth between the ages of 14 to 21 who are part of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Program; youth between the ages of 14 to18 who are on their parents TANF case; or youth up to 20 years old who have children and receive TANF themselves. Youth Services is currently working on funding for youth with qualifying barriers that do not fit within WIA or TANF funding eligibility requirements. Further information will be dispersed through the Youth Employment Program as alternate funding becomes available.

How to Apply
As of Fall 2007, the Youth Employment Program expanded to year-round programming whereby all potential candidates apply through one of the Community Based Organizations listed below. Program applications will be available at each CBO, or can be accessed and printed online beginning March 5, 2008.  Application deadline for Summer 2008 is May 15, 2008.
