DWD offers specialized services for individuals with disabilities who may need additional assistance to re-enter the workforce and become fully employed.
Benefits Planners are available by appointment to help SSI and SSDI recipients understand how income from work may affect their Social Security benefits, Medicare and Medicaid, and other support programs. Benefit Planners can help customers understand the various work incentives that exist to help them maximize their return-to-work efforts, and they are also available to assist customers with disabilities on understanding the Social Security disability application process. Disability Program Navigators assist individuals with disabilities to secure and access services needed to obtain and maintain employment, provide information on resources including linkages to specific services within the community, and facilitate appropriate referrals within the workforce center and community partners.
Access One-Denver Workforce Employment Network assists eligible SSI and SSDI beneficiaries, through the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program, to access and secure appropriate workforce services to obtain and maintain employment. Assistive Technology: The Speer, Stapleton and Westside Workforce Centers offer resources available for individuals with visual or hearing impairments, physical limitations, or learning challenges.
These resources include: • Text magnification systems • Computer screen magnification and screen and text reading software • Speak and type software programs • Audio amplification equipment • Software to enhance reading and writing and productivity • Physical accommodations
Assistive Technology and other adaptive equipment is available at the Speer, Stapleton and Westside offices, during normal hours of operation. Previous experience may be required to effectively utilize assistive technology. Please see resource room staff for more information. Sign language interpreter services and alternative formats of Workforce Center material are also available upon request.
