Job Readiness Training

Job Readiness Training (JRT) is a series of classes aimed at developing the skills and techniques necessary to conduct an effective job search. Classes are administered over a period of one week.

SUBJECTS:

• Job Seekers Tool Kit
• Using Choices CT software to identify interests, skills, values, and aptitudes
• Completing a job application
• Interviewing skills
• Using the internet to conduct a job search
• Developing a resume
• Composing a cover letter
• Networking with other job seekers
• Utilizing the workforce center Resource Room

SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

LOCATION:

Westside Workforce Center
Richard T. Castro Building
1200 Federal Blvd.
1st floor, west end of building

COST: Free

MATERIALS:

Upon completion of the class, students will have a completed resume, mastered a job application, learned interview techniques and obtained handouts containing job search and retention tips.

ELIGIBILITY:

The Job Readiness Training is open to all individual and is targeted primarily to recipients of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). All job seekers will benefit from this class. For more information contact DWD Group Services as indicated below.

CERTIFICATION:

Job Readiness Training participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the training.

REGISTRATION:

An agency referral is required for TANF clients. TANF participants will need IRC and TANF referral form. Non TANF customers are requested to call DWD Group Services at 720.865.2272 for more details.
