Types of Child Care

Care Provided by Family or Friends
This is care provided by someone you know to be reliable and you trust to take good care of your kid(s). They are exempt from licensing by the state if they only watch your kid(s) and their own.

Licensed Child Care Home
This care is provided in someone’s home. They have received training to better care for kids and it is usually a more structured environment. Their care has been approved by the State of Colorado for a variety of ages and numbers of kids. They may have other staff depending on the license they received.

Licensed Child Care Centers

Trained teachers and other staff care for kids who are usually grouped by age. This is a larger and more structured environment providing educational and age-appropriate activities. This setting can help kids be ready for the expectations of school.

Other Child Care Arrangements
May include preschools, nannies (in your home), babysitting cooperatives, to name a few. These are not usually eligible for payment assistance.
